Rapid SMS Frequently Asked Questions
Initial Welcome Text Questions
What the heck is this text I just received?
This is a welcome message from our Central Station, informing you of our new automated 2-way texting service. Instead of waiting to receive a phone call if your alarm goes off, now you will recieve a text message the moment the alarm occurs. The text will contain a hyperlink with options to cancel, put the zone on test and many other features. This welcome text contains a mock-up hyperlink that you can test out. The link in the welcome text is just a demonstration of what your alarm notifications will look like. If you want to keep this service, you don’t need to do anything. You are already enrolled at no cost with better and faster control of alarms; false or otherwise. You’re welcome!
I just got this text message and I don’t want to get anymore of these.
Simply reply to the text with the word “STOP”. You may also email us at rapidsms@atlanticsecurityinc.com or call our office at 410-778-6112 if you prefer.
I got this welcome text yesterday and now it won’t let me opt out.
It is only active for an hour for your security. We can turn off the service for you if you like. Email us at rapidsms@atlanticsecurityinc.com or call our office at 410-778-6112
I did not respond to the first welcome text, now what happens?
You are enrolled automatically, so you don’t need to do anything unless you want to cancel the texting. We will be happy to turn it off if you wish.
Is this from ASI or is it a scam?
It should have come from xxx-xxx-xxxx. The message is from our Central Station on our behalf. It is legit. If you have any concerns, we can activate it for you manually or turn the feature off.
What is this going to cost me?
Nothing extra. This is a completely free service which won’t add any cost to your current account. You’re welcome!
Is this new system actually secure?
The text and application are completely secure. We do recommend password, fingerprint or other security measures for your phone, but you should be doing that anyway.
This is not from your normal phone number, is this your new office?
This is just another direct customer line to our Central Station. We have not changed the old number, it was just better to use a different number for texting. You can still call the same way you always have, or you can use this number.
What happened to the old way of doing things?
This is just an additional service we have provided for your benefit. Everything else remains the same.
Why did you do this?
80% of false alarm dispatches are because the initial call goes unanswered. 90% of texts get read in under 30 seconds. This is simply a way for us to adapt to changing times.
What if I already opted out, but now I want to opt -in?
We can fix you right up. Just call in or email us at rapidsms@atlanticsecurityinc.com with your details.
I decided that I don’t want this service anymore.
